Small 8×8 Dot Matrix Ultra Bright – Blue [Discontinued]
This small 8 x 8 (64 LED) dot matrix is only 1.25″ (32mm) square, and ready to display any scrolling text, graphs, clock display, counter or signs you can think of! The ultra bright LEDs are very visible, and the units are small enough to plug into a breadboard! The LEDs are contained inside the plastic body in an 8×8 matrix. There are 16 pins on the side, 8 on each, with 0.1″ spacing so you can easily plug it into a breadboard with one row on each side for wiring it up.
This dot matrix requires an IC to run, and the display is in a grid so you’ll need a 1:8 multiplex to control it. You can run it with a MAX7219 which does the multiplexing for you.
